I don't get the point of this long list of who did what with whom when. I've worked in DC off and on for years relating to financial regulation and national security issues. All this describes is how some people got jobs. So what? I mean, it may explain to the uninitiated how referrals and personal relationships drive DC, but so what? That is how all business works. Does the author have a different way that jobs and tasks "should" be handed out by people in power how need to get things done?
